Edinburgh is one of the top tourist destinations in Europe, its landmarks, cultural events and yearly arts festival needing no introduction. The Edinburgh Festival, Tattoo and Hogmanay festivities see our Holiday Inn Edinburgh hotels swell to capacity, but the city has something to offer at any time of year. Edinburgh Castle, Jacobs Ladder, Holyrood House, Arthurs Seat and the shops and restaurants of the Royal Mile are eternally popular. The city has an eclectic mix of museums, galleries and arts venues, with a constantly changing events calendar.

Edinburgh is one of the worlds top tourist destinations, but its also a hub of industry, commerce and education. Ahead of London, it has been named the most desirable place to live in the UK, and the Best Small City of the Future for 2010 2011. The economy is reliant on service sector industries, such as health, education, finance, retail, leisure, hospitality and the arts. However, the famous university dispenses a constant stream of graduate entrepreneurs, and science, technology, engineering and IT are also important. The air and sea ports bring further prosperity.

From all this, another important industry has evolved that of business tourism. Edinburgh is the second most popular city for international conferences, and 36th in the world, according to the International Congress and Convention Association. Visit Britain named Edinburgh top value-for-money in a poll of international conference cities. The Edinburgh Conference Bureau, established to promote Edinburgh to companies outside the area, has named us at Holiday Inn as one of the top hotel chains for arranging meetings in Edinburgh something our clients are happy to endorse.

Holiday Inn Riyadh
The capital of Saudi Arabia and one of the Middle Easts largest cities, Riyadh is a centre of business, administration and finance and a conference hub for the MEA, with more meetings facilities than any other city in Saudi Arabia.

We at Holiday Inn Riyadh have superbly equipped conference facilities in three fully serviced hotels, located in Riyadhs central business, finance and administration districts. Conveniently located for the International Exhibition Centre and King Khaled International airport, our venues seat up to 1300 delegates in air-conditioned comfort.

The benefits of Holiday Inn Riyadh

All three of our Holiday Inn venues – Holiday Inn Riyadh-Al Qasr, Holiday Inn Riyadh-Olaya and Holiday Inn Riyadh Minhal are located in or near Riyadhs Central Business District of Riyadh-Olaya. Dominated by the glittering towers of King Fahd road, this is Saudi Arabias most prosperous thoroughfare, lined with designer shopping malls and multinational companies. King Khaled International Airport is just 30 minute to the north.

Our Holiday Inn Riyadh Minhal hotel is particularly well sited for Riyadhs hospitals and government buildings. Able to hold up to 350 delegates, our largest room can sub-divide for smaller meetings. We at Holiday Inn Riyadh pride ourselves on our flexibility and range of meeting rooms, which can accommodate groups of all sizes in a variety of formal and informal layouts.

Riyadh a sparkling green oasis of opportunity

Despite its modern skyline, Riyadh dates back 1500 years. A prized desert oasis, until the arrival of the oil fields it was mainly a centre for agriculture. Today, green fields are dominant once more, with the Saudi government ploughing resources into farming and sustainable energy. A number of agricultural and environmental events are held in Riyadh each year.

The Saudi government prizes private enterprise highly. Privatisation and investment have created a city where small businesses, as well as large conglomerates, are able to thrive. We at Holiday Inn are able to answer the needs of both groups. Our newly-refurbished Holiday Inn Riyadh-Al Qasr can accommodate up to 1300 delegates, and up to 450 at the luxurious Holiday Inn Riyadh-Olaya nearby. Both offer superb accommodation for both business and leisure guests, being central to the malls and other attractions of King Fahd Road.

Holiday Inn Riyadh for business, for pleasure, for both

King Fahd Road is an excellent base for exploration. Dominated by the Kingdom Centre, other stunning examples of Saudi architecture include the artistically-styled Al Faisaliyah Centre, Saudis first skyscraper, and the Riyadh TV Tower. King Fahd is considered one of the most beautiful modern thoroughfares in the world.

However, theres a cultural side to Riyadh as well. We at Holiday Inn Riyadh are equally well placed for exploration of the mediaeval city ruins of Diriyah, just a few kilometres from the city centre and one of the most important archaeological sites in the Middle East. The Al-Dira Old Town district has been built on the site of the original Riyadh, in a style sympathetic to traditional Nejd architecture. The al-Masmak Fort and King Abdulaziz Historical Centre are equally worthy of a visit, and there are a number of traditional Nejd villages in the region which make a pleasant afternoons drive.

Whether you are here for business or pleasure, we at Holiday Inn Riyadh will ensure your stay is perfect.

Holiday Inn London

Holiday Inn London
The capital of the UK does not need much introduction, as one of the major business cities in the world, most major institutions will at some point use London for their conference, meeting or other business purposes. Despite London being one of the largest cities in terms of business locations, there are still a lot of companies based outside the city in other parts of the UK, however even those companies who are based outside the city will still operate elements of their business operation within the City of London.

There are misconceptions that to conduct business in London is expensive which is what puts a lot of people off. Whilst there are increased rental prices for some business properties, holding business meetings, conferences or gatherings is easily achievable and there are price options available to suit different needs. At Holiday Inn London we offer 18 venues within the city of London and surrounding areas to provide our customers with a vast choice of locations to fit in with different requirements. With meeting and conference facilities available for up to 700 guests in some locations, there is scope for catering for most business events.

When it comes to international business, London is arguably the most popular city to choose to invite business associates from overseas. The three major airports fly to and from most countries and with such short flight times from many European countries, it is an obvious location for holding business conferences. Even those visitors who are on an express trip can be catered for, as with locations close to both Heathrow and Gatwick airport, Holiday Inn London can create a convenient meeting venue for those who need to arrive and depart quickly.

There is of course a lot more to London than just business and convenience and it is a great city to entertain guests or reward employees. Many overseas visitors are fascinated by the history of Britain and its capital city, giving the perfect opportunity to combine business with a bit of culture and pleasure. Even guests from other parts of the UK or London itself can benefit from a little London history and with Holiday Inn London locations in the likes of Mayfair and Kensington there are a lot of choices for creating a cultured visit for guests.

Of course another favourite activity in London is shopping and nobody can deny that London has some of the best shops in the world. As a city it can easily match the likes of Paris and New York in terms of retail status and quality. Turning a shopping trip into a group weekend is a great way of getting colleagues or friends together and offers something a little more relaxed. By choosing a location in the heart of Oxford Street you can easily enjoy the shops, bars and hustle and bustle of urban London without having far to walk back.

The options for London are endless which makes it such a versatile and accommodating city to host a business or personal event in.

A centre for business and pleasure

The glass façade and palm-fringed driveway of our 11-storey hotel is in perfect keeping with its surroundings. Abu Dhabi is thought of as a glittering modern conglomerate of tower blocks. However, the city has a history stretching back 3000 years, and beyond the high-rise architecture of man-made islands like Al Sowwah and Al Reem, there is a wealth of attractions to entice both the leisure guest and the business visitor.

Our rooftop pool gives superb views of the magnificent Grand Mosque, while the SKMC complex, adjacent to us at Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, is a triumph of modern architecture. Coastal attractions

Abu Dhabi is an island city, connected to the mainland via three bridges. We at Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi are just minutes from the fabulous Corniche, a palm-crested coastal boulevard of parks, gardens and fountains. Corporate outings can be arranged from the passenger port, which is being developed into a major cruise hub by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority. We at Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi are ideally sited for tourism events, with Abu Dhabi’s prime business sites and leisure attractions on our doorstep, and a fabulous range of facilities within the hotel.

Abu Dhabi is surrounded by a number of other islands – some man-made and some natural. Al Reem is a thriving centre of business, leisure and commerce, with shopping malls, amusement parks, museums and an aquarium.

Futaisi is a privately owned, environmentally protected island rife with history and wildlife, and a popular tourist spot. Holiday Inn Riyadh

Holiday Inn Riyadh

The capital of Saudi Arabia and its largest and most prosperous city, Riyadh is dominated by the skyline of its Central Business District. The sweeping tower of the Kingdom Centre, and stunning Art Deco detailing of the Al Faisaliyah Centre, mark Riyadh as a bustling modern hub of commerce and finance. But it is built on the foundations of a walled city that was founded 1,500 years ago. We at Holiday Inn Riyadh have three superbly appointed hotels, close to both Riyadh’s central business district and its cultural attractions.

Riyadh has doubled in size in the last 15 years and continues to expand. With a diverse economy and growing tourism industry, our Holiday Inn Riyadh hotels play an important role in the economy. Riyadh’s enviable highway system and easy access to King Khalid International Airport make it a magnet for corporate investment. A fertile city built on a desert oasis, it grew rich on its date palms and orchards. With decreasing reliance on its fossil fuel economy, the city is once more investing in agriculture, which dominates the conference calendar.

Find the Holiday Inn in Riyadh that’s right for you

We at Holiday Inn Riyadh have three hotels in prime locations. Our Holiday Inn Riyadh-Olaya is located in Riyadh’s commercial and business hub. Local to the shopping malls and Riyadh Exhibition Centre, it is ideal for international business conferences, whether held in our hotel or elsewhere in the city. The fully serviced conference rooms will seat up to 450 delegates, besides which we have a staffed business centre; spacious bedrooms; private business suites, and first-class recreational and dining facilities.

Our Holiday Inn Riyadh-Al Qasr venue was completely modernised in 2007, and offers outstandingly luxurious business accommodation at the heart of the Olaya Central Business District, adjoining the prestigious King Fahd road and with direct links to King Khaled International Airport. Our largest conference venue, it will accommodate up to 1,300 delegates. The state-of-the-art meeting rooms, stunning décor and gourmet dining facilities are matched by a level of service that ensures you will want for nothing during your stay.

Our Holiday Inn Riyadh Minhal hotel is in a prime location for those involved with medical or public administration, being close to the city hospitals, and government buildings. It is the ideal venue for break-out and training sessions, as the largest room, which accommodates up to 350 guests, can be broken down into three smaller ones.

Holiday Inn Riyadh – where tradition meets ambition

The modern Riyadh, while rich in stunning modern architecture, was built by razing the original ancient walls and fortresses to the ground. However, the city is working hard to promote its heritage, and though nothing can stop the urban sprawl reaching the surrounding towns, they are being protected. Traditional villages like Diriyah, Manfuha and Wadi Laban are enjoying a new-found interest in cultural investment, their red-brick architecture helping to promote the cultural side of Riyadh through tourism.

Riyadh is a popular city to hold conferences and business meetings, with a friendly persona and excellent conference facilities. We at Holiday Inn Riyadh offer an extensive range of facilities. Whether it’s an international product launch or team building events in the desert, our friendly staff will help you every step of the way to ensure your event is a success.

Holiday Inn Jeddah

Holiday Inn Jeddah

Just 2 km from the city centre and only 5 km from the beaches and attractions of the Red Sea resorts, our Holiday Inn Jeddah-al-Salam hotel is the ideal venue for your conference, trade event or private function, boasting two spacious ballrooms able to accommodate up to 1600 delegates, plus four smaller meeting rooms for 20 to 50 guests. On top of this we have a fully-equipped business centre and Wi-Fi throughout the hotel – plus onsite parking facilities for those driving in.

Located 40 km from Jeddah International Airport and 60 km from the Holy City of Mekkah, our cosmopolitan facilities and central location are the perfect answer for both Saudi and international meetings. The conference rooms offer an attractive, air-conditioned environment in which to plan your business strategies or discuss the latest marketing figures, but if you want to get away from the boardroom for a while we have a pool, gym and spa to relax in.

Al-Balad – the gem in the eye of Holiday Inn Jeddah

We are uniquely positioned close to both the Central Business District (CBD) and one of Jeddah’s most popular tourist attractions – the gleaming white Medina Gate. In the 16th century, this proud city was under the rule of the Turkish Ottoman Empire, its massive walls pierced by six staunch gates and watchtowers. Sadly, all that remains is this one gate, the rest having been largely torn down in the post-war era. However, the Old Town of Al-Balad is still largely intact, and only a few minutes’ walk from our hotel.

As Jeddah’s business district expanded, Al-Balad was in danger of being torn down in favour of high-rises. Although a lot of damage was done, it was rescued from further development in the 1990s. In 2007 the Jeddah Urban Development Company was founded to restore the Al-Balad district and convert it to a heritage area of historic buildings and traditional craft centres. Heavy investment means repair works are already well underway, and the hope is to create a cultural and heritage area the equal of El-Khalili in Cairo, and to achieve inclusion on the UN’s World Heritage list.

To achieve Heritage Status the city needs local as well as global cooperation – something which has already been partially achieved, with both international and local companies working together on the restoration of 30 buildings. We at Holiday Inn Jeddah could not be better placed to serve the needs of this project. Our rooms cater for both small-scale, private meetings and large public planning exhibitions.

Souks and shopping centres

As it stands, Al Balad and its environs are fast becoming a centre for commerce and tourism. The glittering modern skyscrapers house a number of large Saudi companies – among them the headquarters of the National Commercial Bank. The upscale shopping malls are home to numerous high-end European designer stores, while in the ancient souks and alleyways local traders ply their wares.

We at Holiday Inn Jeddah recommend you leave your designer shopping for another day, and visit the bustling souks of Gabil, Alawiyyin and Al-Badawi, to see how little life has really changed since the days of the Six Watchtowers and the Ottoman Empire.

Aylesbury – a Ducks tail

Aylesbury is an attractive residential town with a large number of small businesses, as well as larger chain stores. It has one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the UK, making it a popular place to live and work. A thriving market town for centuries, there are still markets held here several times a week, with agriculture continuing to play an important role in the local economy. Aylesburys best known export has been its famous white ducks, one of which forms the towns emblem. Sadly, the Aylesbury duck fair is no more, though the breed itself can be found across England – its most famous incarnation was as Beatrix Potters Jemima Puddleduck.

Aylesburys population has doubled since the 1960s, and a number of new developments have been built in recent years, with more to follow though the conservation area around Queens Park and St Marys has been protected. Suburban Aylesbury now encroaches on several neighbouring towns and villages, including Stoke Mandeville, Hartwell, Stone, Broughton and Weston Turville. We at Holiday Inn Aylesbury are located at the centre of this group of towns, with easy access to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and other local employers, making our business facilities a valuable resource, not just for Aylesbury but surrounding districts too. In recent years, Aylesbury has become a major focus for growth and investment, with a major new regeneration plan in the canalside area. The new 1,500-seat Waterside theatre opened its doors in October 2010, and an extensive new retail and leisure area is in the pipeline. It is hoped this redevelopment of the towns old industrial areas will generate 21,500 new jobs.

The cultural side of Aylesbury

Aylesbury has a number of lively pubs, bars and restaurants, as well as an eclectic mix of retail outlets. One of its most stunning modern buildings is the Blue Leanie, an award-winning glittering high-rise tower block housing the headquarters of several major companies.

However, Aylesbury has an older, more cultural side too, with several heritage buildings of note. Its civic buildings include a Victorian County Gaol and Union Workhouse (today a mental hospital.) The town also has a number of fine churches making our meeting rooms at Holiday Inn Aylesbury a popular choice for weddings. Our spacious suites have room for up to 150 guests, with a superb backdrop the beautiful Vale of Aylesbury and the Chiltern Hills. We at Holiday Inn Aylesbury are the perfect choice whether youre planning a team exercise, a product launch or a family get-together.

Holiday Inn Rugby

Holiday Inn Rugby

In a rural location just east of junction 18 on the M1, we at Holiday Inn Rugby have a state-of-the-art Business Academy with several purpose-built, self-contained meeting rooms and a business centre. We offer fully-serviced facilities for meetings, training, team events, break-out sessions, private functions and weddings – including civil ceremonies.

We at Holiday Inn Rugby are located in our own landscaped grounds, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. During the summer months, our extensive grounds are ideal for both corporate events and weddings, the historic parish church of the picturesque village of Crick (mentioned in the Domesday book) lying close by. Surrounded by the rolling Northamptonshire countryside, it’s easy to forget that the M1 motorway is less than 200m away! With quick and easy links to Rugby city centre and the M6, and with excellent leisure facilities on site, we are a popular choice for both business and leisure visitors.

Holiday Inn Rugby – fulfilling a local need

Rugby is an old market town in an area rich with history. Take time out from your meeting to explore the local area and you will take a walk through time. The Roman road of Watling Street, the mediaeval boundaries of Bury Dyke and the gaily painted barges of the Grand Union Canal are all a short way away, with excellent views towards Rugby from the top of Crack’s Hill.

The canal proved vital to Rugby’s economy during the Industrial Revolution, and continues to play an important role today – though these days it’s the leisure industry that thrives. Crick has a historic canal tunnel and marina which now, as 150 years ago, provides moorings for canal boats – some of which are for sale. It also hosts a highly successful yearly narrowboat show, organised by British Waterways. 2011 marks its 11th year – no doubt, there will be a few meetings beforehand, to ensure it all runs smoothly! We at Holiday Inn Rugby are pleased to be able to offer Crick Marina and other local companies highly competitive rates on our meeting rooms.

Sporting achievements

Rugby is best known for its famous school and the creation of a certain “rough game for gentlemen.” The school was the setting for Thomas Hughes’ famous semi-autobiographical novel, Tom Brown’s Schooldays, a version of which was filmed there in 2004, starring Stephen Fry. Frank Whittle invented the jet engine here in 1937; holography was another Rugby first.

Rugby today is a pleasant Victorian town, much of it designed by renowned Gothic Revival architect William Butterfield. If you develop a thirst, there’s no shortage of watering holes – Rugby has the second-highest number of pubs in England, per square mile! Our light airy bar at Holiday Inn Rugby is one of the more recent additions.

Unusual for today, Rugby has an economy that continues to rely on heavy industry. The biggest employers are Rugby Cement, Rolls Royce and Alstom – a merger of GEC and AEI, famous for their gas and steam turbines. A number of new industrial estates have been built recently, as well as Daventry Rail Freight Terminal, located close to us at Holiday Inn Rugby.

Our business academy at Holiday Inn Rugby is a valuable resource to the local economy. We even have that one thing every good meeting needs – a supply of Starbucks Coffee!

Our spacious suites have room for up to 150 guests, with a superb backdrop – the beautiful Vale of Aylesbury and the Chiltern Hills. We at Holiday Inn Aylesbury are the perfect choice whether you’re planning a team exercise, a product launch or a family get-together.

Holiday Inn Coventry

Holiday Inn Coventry

Located just off Junction 2 of the M6, we at Holiday Inn Coventry are the ideal venue for your conference or business meeting. A modern Business Academy hotel, we occupy a prime position close to several important retail and business parks, just 15 minutes from Birmingham International Airport by car.

The Holiday Inn Coventry offers conference facilities for up to 250 delegates in 7 spacious, fully equipped meeting rooms. The cities of Birmingham and Coventry are less than 20 miles from each other and the hub for industry, finance and commerce in the Midlands. The hotel is close to Birmingham NEC, Coventry Ricoh Arena and several other major venues, making it a first-class venue for delegates attending business events. The extensive business centre and break-out area offer places to work, relax, or do some networking, while the guest rooms and leisure facilities offer everything in the way of home comforts. Not surprisingly, it’s a popular venue for weddings and parties, too.

There’s a strong need for business facilities like that at Holiday Inn. Coventry is probably most famous for the legend of Lady Godiva. However, the city was also the birthplace of the British motor industry, which continues to play an important role today, with Jaguar having its corporate and research headquarters here. Only one motor vehicle is still wholly built in Coventry, but it’s an icon of British culture – the London Black Cab, made by LTI.

Today, Coventry has a diverse number of industries. Machine tools, motor spares, agricultural machinery, aerospace parts and telecommunications and electronic equipment are all manufactured here. In common with many industrial cities Coventry has moved towards the service sector in recent years, with finance, research, the arts, leisure and retail all important to the economy. Along with the big conglomerates, Coventry has a large number of thriving small companies, including construction firms. The city is currently in the midst of a multi-million pound redevelopment program, which is transforming it into a major hub for retail, leisure and culture.

Coventry has a lot to be proud of. With a history dating back to the Bronze Age, the skyline is dominated by the three statuesque spires of 14th century spires of St. Michael’s Cathedral, Christ Church and Holy Trinity – the only church to escape the bombing raids of World War ll. The modern St. Michael’s Cathedral, which stands next to the shell of the former, hosts an eclectic program of arts events throughout the year.

The city has a number of museums and art galleries. A visit to the Coventry Transport Museum is a must for anyone with an interest in classic cars. The museum houses the largest collection of British motor vehicles in the world, including the Thrust world speed record-breakers. Other cultural venues include the Lunt Roman Fort, the Midland Air Museum, the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, and the Police Museum, whose exhibits can be viewed by appointment.

Coventry is today a vibrant retail, culture and leisure hub, with transport connections across the UK and Europe. With exciting projects like the Phoenix Initiative and Swanswell Project, our Business Academy at Holiday Inn Coventry plays a vital role in the city infrastructure.
